My sister was born on September 25, 1932. I was born 18 years later. When my mother found out that she was pregnant with me, she cried because she thought that she was finished having babies. But my sister, who was married and expecting her first child too, was thrilled that our mother was going to have another baby. And that they would be about a month apart. My sister's pregnancy was not meant to be and she lost her baby. She was so happy when I was born and just adored me. Three months after I was born, my father was in a terrible tractor-trailer accident in the Carolina's and my mother rushed there to be by his side. My sister took over the duties of watching my brother and I. And my mother remained with my dad for the three months that he remained in a burn unit there. Of course I only know this info from having heard it over the years.
Throughout my lifetime, I have been blessed to have had my sister's in my life. I love them both but I am and have been especially close to my oldest sister. She has never waivered in her support or love for me. She has been there for me through infancy, puberty, adolescence and my first boyfriend. She has given me strength through a failed marriage, moved me from one part of Maryland to another part of Maryland so she could help me with two little boy's who did not understand what was going on in their world. She provided daycare for them because I now was a single mom out in the working world trying to get ahead. And it happened. I did get ahead. With all of her love and support it was apt to happen. And the rest is history.
So on this day, the 25th of September 2008, I wish you the happiest birthday ever. I'm so glad that I will get to spend this time with you and other family too. I hope that this will be one of the most memorable birthdays ever. Cause you deserve the best of everything there is! I love you bigger than the sky!
All my love,
Your Baby Sister
