September Moon

, originally uploaded by Mamaquita.

As we were leaving my daughter's home tonight, Hailee and I saw a beautiful moon that I couldn't wait to capture! I drove home quickly, but safely of course, since Hailee was with me, a-hem, and got my camera out and took this picture. It really isn't that clear but I love the way that it shows up through the tree's.

The sunset made the sky very pink tonight. Even though I didn't see the sun setting, the sky was so beautiful. I wasn't able to stop to get pictures of it this time.

I hope that I never get too pre-occupied to stop and take in the beauty of all the things that our Lord has provided us with.

Washed up!

, originally uploaded by Mamaquita.

When I came upon this shoe on the beach, my imagination just took off! I wondered who's shoe it could be, how long it had been in the ocean.....was the person it belonged too safe. All sorts of things crossed my mind.

I really like this picture and if you look closely you can see that it has growth on the front sole and on the sides which make me think that it may have been submerged on the bottom of the ocean for a while.

I would love to hear what you might think about this shoe.

I find this tree very interesting and I especially think that Wanda will love it. So, this one's for you Wanda.

Yesterday I watched "the girl's" while their mommy & daddy went to a wedding. I enjoyed being with them so much. They were sooooo excited to see me after a week of being away. I had spoken to Hailee on the phone during the week so she knew that I was going to bring them something special from OBX. They greeted me with big hugs and kisses and then said, "what did you bring mom-mom"! They were very happy with their little gifts.

We had decided that I would take them out to lunch; just me and the girl's. Hailee's request was for "Bob Evans". She always wants to go there if we go out. Gianna chose "breakfast food" and insisted that she have a pancake, scrambled egg, potatoes and bacon. Kelli had told me before she wouldn't eat eggs. I asked her several times if she was sure. She stuck to what she wanted. Didn't waver at all. So we went with that. Hailee ordered twin cheeseburgers with fries. Well I'm here to tell you that Gianna ate her scrambled eggs, some potatoes, her pancake and all of her bacon! We call her the "eating machine". She eats constantly.

All went well and we left. As we were driving home I thought that maybe the girl's would like to go to the duck pond. Mostly I did. I wanted to take a million pictures. We didn't have bread or crackers.....but we still went and the girl's were happy to watch the ducks.

Here are pictures that were taken on Sunday at the duck pond. These are some pretty agressive ducks. Especially if you have food.

After the duck pond, we came home to blow bubbles.

Here are pictures of the house we stayed in and the pool area. The pool was heated and it felt like bath water. I enjoyed getting in there and relaxing. The hot tub was very nice and could seat four comfortably. It felt just great to get in there and adjust those jets to your aching back or shoulders. The girls let me take a foot shot!

It was a really nice is only 4 - 5 months old. So having everything new was really nice. The acommodations were really great. I would definitely rent this house again. We split the rent three ways and we booked the week after Labor Day. So it ended up being about $275 a person. You really can't beat that. We bought food and split the cost of that too. We ate out usually once a day and usually it was for lunch or dinner. We were never disappointed in the restaurants that we ate in. The food was wonderful! No complaints from any of us. Probably the best seafood I've eaten in a long time. I did cook one night....spaghetti and meatballs, salad and garlic bread. We actually did eat leftovers from that one of the nights.

The bottom picture is of me in the pool on the first night. My friends thought that this was such a neat picture when the sides of the raft curled up around me. They said I looked like a "mermaid". Yea.....right! It was so relaxing floating on the raft and chillin!

I have never seen crabs like these in my entire 56 years! They are the color of sand......a very good disguise for these little things. There are millions of them.....skittering across the sand......and the closer you get to them they find a hole and away they go. I was fascinated by how comical they actually were to watch. They are about an inch to two inches. Some small.....some a little bigger.

The picture of the shoe was just because......a lone shoe on a big beach.

The first picture is of "sea kelp" I think. It was really very pretty laying on the beach. I took so many pictures of the waves crashing on the shoreline. I won't bore you with all of them. But I really like how they look.

These pictures were taken on the beach where the sky was so beautiful. The formation of the clouds against the blue sky was breathtaking. And the sunsets were out of this world!

This art gallery was in the little town that we stayed in called Salvo. We loved this shop so much that a couple of us went back a third time. I bought a few pendants of dichroic glass and a piece of pottery. The picture that I am posting does not do the dichroic glass justice. It is so beautiful in person. I have been wanting some of this for a very long time. I bought one for me and hopefully I will follow my intentions when I bought them and give the others as gifts.

Here are the dichroic glass pendants.

Here is the piece of pottery that I bought. It can be hung on a wall or it can sit on a table top. I love it either way. I'll eventually decide where I like it best.
