We had a lot of fun decorating the cookies that Kelli baked. But I have to admit that we wouldn't have won even a recognition for those cookies. They looked very bad.....but tasted pretty good. That's what really matters, ugh?
Hailee is seen here about to squirt that yucky canned icing in her mouth. That stuff tastes horrible. And I might add that it is difficult to decorate with. Or maybe we just don't have whatever it is you need to make a beautiful cookie!
And this last picture is just a few of the cookies that we decorated. They don't look very pretty but they sure did taste good! Thank goodness! Kelli took some to a Christmas Day get together and the "kids" loved them.

After having a fun-filled Christmas Eve with family and friends, I arrived home around 11:00 p.m. I don't know why I could only sleep for a few hours, but I was wide-eyed and bushy tailed about 5:00 a.m. I piddled around and waited for "the call". My daughter calls and always asks, "mom, are you coming over?" Of course I am silly! Just didn't want to run into Santa! Waited for your call.
When I arrived, I could see that Santa had made the drop! Wow! Lots of things all over the place. And the packages that I brought just made a couple more piles. The girl's were very happy with their gifts. Hailee was so happy to have gotten the Pet Shop Paws Off voice activated diary. She had been asking for that for a few months. Gianna is seen in the pictures holding Hailee's baby doll......another thing that Hailee had asked Santa to bring. Gianna really, really loves this doll too. In fact, it was a little source of tension for the two girls. Even though Hailee shared it many times while I was there, Gianna wanted to hold it all of the time. Santa brought her a baby doll too.....but she loved Hailee's very much. Kelli made a statement that Santa should have brought two of those same dolls. The doll is pretty cute. And she moves her arms and legs, pulls the blanket up over her face, makes sounds and talks, burps....no peeing or pooing though. The girl's also received clothes that were needed as they are growing at leaps and bounds!
I ended my stay there with a wonderful breakfast, lots of pictures and much enjoyed family time.
And then I was off to see my grandson!
I arrived at my son's house around 11:00 a.m. L.J. had been up since about 8:00 a.m. as daddy couldn't stand for him to sleep a moment more. We passed out gifts and L.J really loved the Hess Oil Monster Truck for this year. It has three different sounds and flashing lights and two little motorcycles that can be hauled on the back of the truck. It is a hit......daddy reports it to be one that L.J really loves! He also got his first easel. And I told mommy and daddy that mom-mom was going to make sure she got the paints for the cupholders on that easel!!!! They just rolled their eyes.
L.J's big surprise was not revealed until I got there. We headed to the garage and when he got the first glimpse of his Corvette, he went right to it and attempted to get in it. After a block of wood was used to help him hold down the pedal and pillows behind him, he finally got the concept of the whole thing. I forgot to mention that the Corvette came equipped with it's very own stereo system! L.J. was very interested in tuning the radio. He liked his vette having music!
It was a fun morning and afternoon. There are many more pictures that I will eventually post. But here are a few of my little darlings!

As we celebrate the birthday of our Lord and Savior, I want to say how thankful I am for my very own children, grandchildren and family wherever you may be! Some of you may live near and some far. I hold you all dear and close to my heart. You are a blessing to me and I am so happy to have you in my life. I am a better person because of you. God bless each and every one of you during this joyous season.

This past week there was some "light" ice on the trees and I took this picture from my window.....really liking the way the ice looked dripping from the crabapples. This is the same tree where the squirrel was going to town eating a couple of weeks ago.

We switched to artifical trees.....and had a number of those that we purchased too. I always wanted a huge one....you know, nine feet tall! My husband, the good sport that he was, went along with it. We had that tree for a while, then Kelli confiscated it when she and her girlfriends were apartment living, and we purchased another artifical tree....One a bit smaller, you know.....7 feet tall. And the story goes on and on. Kelli now has that tree 7 foot tree. And I have her tall and skinny one....it looks pretty when it's decorated....but it really doesn't feel like my tree. I don't even know what I mean by that except that I like big trees! She has a big window that my tree(her tree now) fits in perfectly. And I have to say that they decorated the tree just beautifully this year. It look so lovely in their home. Right where it belongs.
I know that it doesn't matter about the size of the trees, cause once they are decorated, all trees are beautiful. The lights, the ornaments and the memories that you make are what really matters. And here we are again this year.....making more
wonderful memories for the grandchildren and our family.
Kelli and the girls get credit for decorating my tree this year. They came over especially to put mom-mom's tree up. And I welcomed them.....appreciating each and every time they hung an ornament. Kelli even baked cookies! More memories for the making....more to come I'm sure!

I think these pictures represent two lovely aspects of our seasons and how the weather can change so quickly. Our first snowfall last week......snowing on the pond. It really just warmed my heart.......gorgeous sunsets one day........snowing the next day!

SEVEN WEIRD OR RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME! (I'm sure there are many more than that).
1) My nickname was "cotton top" as a little girl. My hair was very blonde!
2) My voice is very soft and sweet....friends tease me about this all of the time.
they suggest that I could do "phone sex" well! Isn't that horrible? Some friends they are.
3) I married at the age of 19.....very young, but in love!
4) I don't watch scarey movies......because if I'm ever alone, those scarey movies come to life in my mind! No kidding!
5) I adore my grandchildren......as if you didn't know. They are the light
in my life and my purpose for being.
6) I love animals and babies.....and baby animals......and babies! My daughter
is expecting her third in February. And I can't wait to hold, snuggle and smell this new baby......and I'm hoping for a little boy to balance the equation!
7) My hubby passed away 4.5 years ago.....but I'm doing well with my wonderful children, grandchildren and friends who love me.
And now for the fun! I nominate Sandy, Holli, Marsha,
and Wanda. It will be so much fun to learn a few facts about each other. Oh, come on! Please?

Kelli and I had been talking about the leaves and how beautiful some were when she mentioned this grouping. I had just passed it to her house so I knew exactly the trees she was talking about. This line of trees is so eye catching! The road that these trees are on is heavily traveled. Kelli was able to pull off so I could take these pictures. I hope the owners of the property were okay with me doing this.......I just couldn't help myself.
Today I had Kelli stop her truck so that I could quickly jump out and get pictures of these leaves and this gorgeous line of trees. The trees are such a beautiful color right now......they almost look like they are on fire! Of course some trees produce leaves like this every year. I think it is the maple leaf that does that. If I am wrong about that, I stand corrected. Just a beautiful time of the year.

Wanted to share this gorgeous picture of a sunrise the other morning in Maryland. It was truely beautiful. God has given us so much beauty to look at and to be thankful for. I'm sure there is much more beauty that I haven't seen.......but will always be looking for.

Gawd! Another birthday already! Why I am even bothering to post about another birthday, another year going by......I must be crazy! But......it's a fact of life. And as much as I hate to admit it, I am getting closer to 60 years old. And it scares me a little bit. I think it is just because when you say "60", it used to seem so old to me. But now that I am closer to the number, I'm thinking, "do I feel like I should be 60"? Well.....what are we supposed to feel like? I know that I am not able to keep at something as long as I used to be able to. That I will take a rest between going from one room to the next when I clean. I don't have to do everything in one day. I will break it up into two days......sometimes more! It just doesn't have to get done right this minute....right? I notice that I am so much more mindful of putting myself at risk for tripping or falling......I think that breaking my arm last year really did that for me. Also, I fell in the shower a couple of months ago. Shook myself up a bit but didn't really hurt myself too badly. A little sore the next day.....but I handled it. I won't even go into the stupidity on my part of why I fell. If you are anything like my daughter, you would just laugh anyway! She got a good laugh out of my explanation of falling. So.....I'm being extra careful now.....in the shower or walking down the 27 steps out to my car each morning on my way to work. Oh yeah......I'm only 57. I still have three years to go before the big 60. Why am I even agonizing over this. I still have three years to go......zippity-do-dah!
The whole purpose of this post, before I got carried away on the age thing, was to tell you that I had a wonderful birthday with my children and grandchildren. My daughter and her husband and the girls took me out to dinner. A very nice restaurant called the "The Center Club" in downtown Baltimore. The service was just wonderful. I love all of those special touches you experience with fine dining. You know......when you return to your table after taking one said "little 3 year old" to the bathroom about six times, your napkin has been re-folded each time. I was impressed with that. The waiters and waitress couldn't have been nicer.....catering to two beautiful little girls, who behaved rather nicely I thought.
I ordered Veal scallopini and I have to say it was scrumptious! Something that I haven't had in a very long time. Kelli & Aaron got the crab cakes and fillet mignon. Normally I would have gotten fillet mignon because that is my favorite, all time food to eat! I rarely have steak but if I do, please give me a medium well done fillet mignon! They loved it. We were all satisfied with our dining experience and I so loved being out to such a fancy place and with the people that I love the most!
Here are a couple of pictures of the girls. Pretty little ladies if I do say so myself! Gianna attempted to eat her ice cream and berries. I finished my creme brulee! Oh.......it was to die for!
Hailee couldn't wait to eat her special cheesecake! She was panting for it! And Gianna was a little pensive.....not feeling up to par!
And a picture of "mommy and daddy". Not sure why Aaron felt the need to close his eyes!
AND IT DIDN'T END HERE!!!
Sunday night my son, DIL and grandson, took me out to dinner too! We went to a nice Italian Restaurant close to my home called Enotria. I ordered tilapia stuffed with Maryland crabmeat surrounded by mussels on a bed of cooked spinach. OMG! It was so good! Very rich and cooked to perfection. I brought at least half of it home and ate it the next day for dinner. John ordered lobster ravioli and Megan ordered a chicken dish over spinach too. The portions were huge. Her leftover was a huge portion that got eaten a little later that night by my other son.
L.J. had been asleep when we first arrived and eventually awoke to being in a different place then he had rememberd leaving and another grandmom(moi) staring at him, and trying to steal some kisses! He quickly raised his little head and inspite of trying to get him to eat a morsel, he wouldn't eat.....he would rather eat peppermint candies! Or walk around outside putting monies in the fountain. Regardless, it was a great time. Time to be with family........family that I adore! Bet you didn't know that!
We leave there and proceed to Kelli & Aaron's house to have cake and ice cream! The ice cream cake was from Coldstone Creamery and was called Cookies and Creamery! If you haven't had a cake from there, you must treat yourself. You don't need to have a birthday to get one of these cakes! They are out of this world. The best ice cream you will ever eat and real cake between the layers. This one was definitely my favortie.
Here are pictures of me.......happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you......attempting to blow-out candles that wouldn't blow out easily and some of the family around the table. It was a fun time. And to all of my children and grandchildren, I love you all so much! You made my birthday a really wonderful, memorable one.
Oh yea! This coming Saturday Kelli made reservations to go to "Tea by Two". I've posted about this before and I am excited to be going there again. Supposed to be six of us, five of my favorite people. And Part II of my birthday treat! If you would like to read this previous post from the archives, go here.
